- Fisheries cluster developed under UPNRM project of GIZ: An Eco friendly and environmentally sound project; unused lands converted to productive purpose; Ground water recharged due to construction of ponds; From 30 beneficiaries the credit support from the project through banks is today enjoyed by 200 farmers; Improvement of road connectivity and irrigation canals up to the project area; Empowerment of women and youth who did not possess livelihood opportunities before our interventions ; NABARD made bankable model schemes; Change of policy of banks towards credit support to marginal farmers. - SAFAL – Phase I: Created a Trainer Pool of 56 Community Resource Persons (CRPs) under self-sustainable Aquaculture of GIZ’s Sustainable Aquaculture for Food and Livelihood (SAFAL) Phase I – 18-day residential training programme at our Aquaculture Field School to strengthen aquaculture extension services in 5 blocks of Assam.
- SAFAL – Phase II: Strengthening the Extension Services by Building a Self-Sustainable Model for Community Resource Persons (CRPs), CRP Trainers, Aqua Entrepreneurs & Strengthening of FPOs in Sustainable Aquaculture. Project Focus Area under—11 districts covered in Assam, India by Kalong-Kapili DRE Technologies Strengthening the Fishery Value Chain in Assam. Project Focus Area under 04 districts covered in Assam, India by Kalong-Kapili.
- Kalong Kapili has recently launched a pilot project called “Empowering the Fishery Value Chain in Assam through Decentralized Renewable Energy Technologies” in collaboration with FPO/FPC in four districts: Nagaon, Karbi Anglong, Sonitpur, and Biswanath Chariali. The initial phases, which included awareness programs on DRE technologies and site assessments for implementation, have been successfully completed. The upcoming activities will involve procurement, workshops, training programs, exposure visits, and more. The Programme was supported by GIZ India.
- A three-day basic training programme was held in Araria district, Bihar, from October 10 to 12, 2023. It aimed to develop Community Resource Persons (CRPs) for sustainable aquaculture, supported by ERADA in partnership with the Government of Bihar, JEEVIKA, Department of Fisheries, and MGNREGA. The CRPs model, pioneered by Kalong-Kapili with GIZ’s support, was introduced for the first time in India. 45 dedicated female fish farmers participated, with training conducted by representatives of Kalong Kapili. Representatives of ERADA played key roles. Fisheries officials from the Government of Bihar were also present. Topics covered included pond management, site selection, stocking, seed transportation, and feed preparation, equipping participants with essential aquaculture skills.
NABARD :
- Promoted natural farming through Integrated tribal development programme to the following clusters at different districts of Assam and some parts of North East.
- Nortap cluster- focused on horticulture activities.
- Borbeel cluster- focused on aquaculture, horticulture and piggery (first of its kind in North East)
- Khatomari cluster-focused on horticulture and piggery.
- Lohit cluster- focused on aquaculture and horticulture.
- Lower Siang cluster-focused on aquaculture and horticulture.
- E-Shakti Programme – Data Digitization of 3050 women SHGs in Assam and also provided awareness on sustainable aquaculture and natural farming.
- Training & Capacity Building on sustainable aquaculture, agriculture, and marketing.
- Developed Innovative and Sustainable Aquaculture Models through Rural Innovation Fund(RIF).
Department of Fisheries :

- Replacement of bottom dweller fish by fresh water prawn.
- Culture of Jayanti Rahu.
- Cage & Pen Culture of Seni Puthi (Olive Barb) in Riverine water bodies and
- Rearing of Koi fish in cage at culture pond.
Bank's:
- Provided credit support to youth and women through Assam Gramin Vikash Bank (RRB), Punjab National Bank (PNB) and State Bank of India (SBI) provided credit support to youth and women for sustainable aquaculture and agriculture.
ICAR-CIFA :
- Aquaculture Field School.
- Provided technical knowledge on diversification of fish culture.
- Provided improved seeds of Jayanti Rohu, Olive barb, Fresh water prawn, Koi and Murrel.
- Conducted workshops at Aquaculture Field School of Kalong-Kapili on” Improved variety of carps and fresh water prawn for enhancing farmers income.”
- Conducted training programme on “Composite fish Farming and Pig cum fish culture” at Karbi Anglong district.
- Distributed quality fish seed and fish feed to the farmers of Karbi Anglong district.
NFDB :
- Received network hatchery status from National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB).
- Received quality seeds from National Freshwater Fish Brood Bank (NFFBB) under NFDB.
World Fish and APART :
- Received technical knowledge on culture of Small Indigenous Fish species (SIS) and value added products on SIS.
- Provided support to fish farmers through the developmental schemes of World Fish and APART.
Fishfed :
- Provided marketing facilities to the fish farmers through Fishfed.
- Fruitful tie up on Knowledge sharing.
APEDA :
- Provided information and awareness for promotion and export of food products and itsfinancial assistance scheme.
- Initiatives taken to enhance the existing e-Governance systems and introduce new online facilities for the benefit of stake holders.

- Organized workshops and seminars.
- Provided technical knowledge on sustainable aquaculture and animal husbandry.
