DPR mode programme
A three-day training programme –Integrated Aquaculture through Climate Resilient Programmes for augmenting farmers income of Lohit District of Arunachal Pradesh was conducted at Tezu covering 80 farmers (in two batches of 40 each). The farmers were from Tezu, Sunpura and Wakro Block of Lohit District.











The training was held from August 18 to 21, 2021. The programme was formally inaugurated by Mr Partho Saha, General Manager/ OIC, NABARD Regional office Itanagar of Arunachal Pradesh on August 18, 2021 in virtual mode. The training programme was supported by NABARD and organised by Kalong-Kapili, the Brand Ambassador of Department of Fisheries,Government of Assam. In the DPR mode project of NABARD, the programme components contained training, demonstration of composite fish farming and demonstration of stunted yearling Fish Seed Bank for Lohit District. This is a ten month DPR mode project.
In the valedictory programme the dignitaries present were Mr S Ghosh, AGM, NABARD Regional Office Itanagar, Mr Nitya Mili DDM NABARD of Lohit District, Miss Kache, EAC of DC office, Jyotish Talukdar, Director of Kalong-Kapili, Mr B Kaman LDM of Lohit District, Mr R Rahman, Horticulture Officer, Lohit District, Mr Binay Kr Das, Dy Director of Kalong-Kapili, Mr Samaha Ngadong, president of FPO of Lohit District, and Mr Ratan Jaishi, Programme coordinator of Kalong-Kapili.
Today on this important occasion,we the Kalong-Kapili family offer our sincere gratitude to all our well wishers. This was our first programme held outside Assam.
One day Scientific Fish Farming Training Programme
Integrated Aquaculture is being popularised as an alternative livelihood for reducing opium cultivation in Lohit and neighbouring districts of Arunachal Pradesh, said Shri Partho Saha, General Manager, NABARD Regional Office, Itanagar, while attending the a programme on Scientific Fish Farming Practices at Tezu on April 07, 2022. He was present as the Chief guest.




He further emphasized that this fish farming can improve the economic and social condition of the farmers as it provided a very regular stream of income while creating wealth out of natural resources. Shri Marge Sora, DC of Lohit District, attended the programme as the Guest of Honour. He advised the farmers to accept the model through which they can get better yield. In the programme, a water testing kit was handed over to the farmers and training provided for use by the farmers themselves.
The other guests present were Shri Nitya Mili, DDM NABARD of Lohit District, Sri B Kaman, LDM and Sri N Sumnyan, DAO of Lohit District, Jyotish Talukdar and Binay kr Das, respectively Director and Dy Director of Kalong-Kapili After the inaugural programme, technical sessions were conducted by the technical team of Kalong-Kapili.

𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒎𝒂𝒍 𝑳𝒂𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒇 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝑻𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒂𝒍 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕 under Tribal Development Programme 𝒐𝒇 𝑵𝑨𝑩𝑨𝑹𝑫 𝒊𝒏 𝑳𝒐𝒉𝒊𝒕 𝑫𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒕 held 𝒐𝒏 17𝒕𝒉 𝑴𝒂𝒚 2022 at Tamladu ground of Medu of Wakro block.
In the Tribal Development Programme aquaculture practices have been included as a component a first of its kind in Arunachal Pradesh and Kalong-Kapili is the Implementing agency.

And finally Kalong-Kapili conveys sincere gratitude, thanks and love to the TDF farmers for their active participation in the programme. Under Integrated Tribal Development Programme the Integrated model includes promotion of aquaculture, horticulture and kitchen garden, and this is the first of its kind project sanctioned by the state Regional Office of NABARD.
The other components of the project include women development, gender equality, community health, community organization, training and capacity building, soil conservation and water resources management.
In the project, aquaculture practices have been included as a component a first of its kind in the state. This initiative in Lohit district covering Tezu, Sunpura and Wakro blocks is going to fulfil the aspirations of youth and women who are willing to work for a better future.

Rural Mart
A new ray of hope has been seen at Wakro block of Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh. A Rural Mart was recently inaugurated by Shri Partho Saha, General Manager of NABARD of Arunachal Pradesh and he was accompanied by Shri Nitya Mili, DDM of Lohit District,NABARD, Sri Tamo Riba EAC,Wakro, Tsering Doka, BDO,Wakro, Sri. Dhrubojyoti Das, Development Assistant, NABARD, Sri Binay Kumar Das, Deputy Director, Kalong-Kapili and Amulya Deka, Executive member, Kalong Kapili at Wakro Block of Lohit District of Arunachal Pradesh. In the Rural Mart handicrafts and handloom products will be sold along with an array of horticulture products. This is the first Rural Mart which was sanctioned By NABARD, implemented by Kalong-Kapili and run by Tashatlong SHG, first of its kind in Wakro area near Parashuram Kunda, one of the famous pilgrims sites of the Northeast. The main objective to establish the Rural Mart is that last year NABARD had sanctioned one Tribal Development Programme in the district and the product will be sold in the facility.
The General Manager and the team also visited some ‘wadi’s under the Tribal Development Project. When fully implemented it will trigger economic and social mobility among a large number of people.


Rural Haat
On December 14th Chief General Manager, NABARD, Devasis Padhi laid the foundation stone of a Rural Haat (market shed) at Medo, Wakro today, in presence of General Manager, NABARD, Partho Saha. The project will be implemented by Kalong-Kapili NGO which is funded by NABARD, Arunachal Pradesh Regional Office (Itanagar)
Speaking on the occasion, the CGM, NABARD stated that Rural Haat is extremely essential to mitigate the marketing hardship faced by the local farmers, vegetable growers and women SHGs to sell their agri & horticulture produce. He cited the example of demand of fresh vegetables in the cities and the farmers need to focus on this and try to tap such market demand.
Also, the GM, NABARD urged for full utilization of the Haat after its completion and to make the project a sustainable one and advised the PIA for early completion of the project and to make it operational for the farmers. DDM NABARD, Nitya Mili stated that the location for the Rural Haat is at a very suitable place at Medo by the side of Chowkham-Parsuram Kund road. It will greatly benefit the farmers of the locality in marketing and selling their produce and will boost the sales of local produce as well as provide convenience to the customers for getting fresh organic vegetables.
Along with it Dy Director Kalong-Kapili, Binoy Das also thanked NABARD for sanctioning the project for the welfare of the farmers of Wakro and assured that the Rural Haat will be very beneficial for the farmers of the area.
SHG members and farmers of Wakro block were also present during the foundation laying ceremony. Later, the CGM and GM also visited the Rural Mart sanctioned to SHGs at Wakro and Tengapani. They were very impressed to see the local culture, handloom textiles and handicrafts made by the artisans of the region.





Lower Siang
Integrated Tribal Development Programme (ITDP), Arunachal Pradesh
An integrated tribal development project was launched at Nari Block in Lower Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh, with the generous support of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and Kalong-Kapili is the project implementing agency.
This project involves more than just resource allocation. It offers a singular chance for the participants to advance their understanding of cutting-edge agricultural techniques, which will ultimately produce higher returns. It strives to enhance their general quality of life, opening the door to a bright future for their families.
Binay Kumar Das, Deputy Director of Kalong-Kapili, the prestigious Project Implementing Agency, gave an overview of the history of the company and how it developed from a modest NGO to its present position as the “Brand Ambassador for Aquaculture” in Assam.
This five-year, phased initiative will assist 200 farmers in cultivating 200 acres of land, generating prospects for sustainable livelihoods. The chosen products, including areca nuts, Assam lemons, turmeric, and produce from the kitchen garden, as well as the related industries of fish farming, pig farming, and goat raising, have been carefully picked to guarantee a consistent income stream and long-term employment for the local farmers.
