Integrated Tribal Development Programme – ITDB@ Amri Block, West Karbi Anglong

An integrated tribal development programme is being implemented at Khatomari cluster of Amri block of West Karbianglong district of Assam.

In the ongoing project 350 tribal families have been covered in 16 villages of Khatomari cluster. Best practices popularized in the area are primarily in the form of arecanut and orange cultivation.The intercrops introduced in that area are pineapple and turmeric. The boundary is covered by teak plantation. Kitchen gardening and local layer farming have been introduced which provide them better nutritional diet and early income.

Capacity building, health, women empowerment, community organisation programmes are being conducted in the project area. Social security scheme i.e. Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana have been introduced among the farmers.

30 SHGs have been formed in that area.

Today the community has the confidence to absorb positive influences from the outside world because they enjoy economic and social security.

Micro Enterprise Development Programmes (MEDP) – Karbi Anglong

From March 24 to April 23, 2021, Kalong-Kapili organized four Micro Enterprise Development Programmes (MEDP) aimed at promoting scientific pig farming among women affiliated with Self Help Groups in the Chingthong and Amri blocks of West Karbi Anglong district. The inaugural ceremony was graced by Mr. P Bulte, DDM of NABARD, overseeing both West Karbi Anglong and Karbi Anglong districts. The initiative received crucial backing from NABARD, with Veterinary Officers from West Karbi Anglong and Nagaon districts providing essential technical expertise.
